Greg from Menasha Deluxe Wenge Wood Chess Board with 2 1/8" Squares ReviewThis is a unique wood board in that the playing surface isn't totally smooth and polished. There's still a feeling of "real wood" to it - some texture, as it were. I was able to purchase this board at a sale price that was significantly lower than the suggested retail. Granted, there is a slight imperfection on the outer boarder, but it is invisible except in direct sunlight. This is the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of five. Nice felted "feet" elevate the board just slightly above the table it is on and protect that table's surface. A very classy wood chess board.
