Description of Chess Endgames Combo (1-4)
Endgame theory constitutes the foundation of chess. You realize this in striking clarity once you obtain a won endgame, but in the end have to be content with a draw in the end because of a lack of necessary know-how. Such accidents can only be prevented by building up a solid endgame technique.
This is Karsten Mueller's four DVD set, and the grandmaster from Hamburg and endgame expert here lays the foundation for acquiring such a technique. Those who have always felt that studying the endgame from textbooks is too uninspiring and too arduous, will enjoy these DVDs and certainly profit from it.
Video running time: 23.5 hours. Included on these DVDs is a ChessBase 9.0 Reader.
Includes 4 separate DVD's:
- Chess Endgames 1: Basic Knowledge for Beginners
- Chess Endgames 2: Rook Endgames
- Chess Endgames 3: Major Piece Endgames
- Chess Endgames 4: Strategical Endgames
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Pentium-Processor at 300 Mhz or higher, 64 MB RAM, Windows 98 SE/2000/XP, Windows Media Player 9.0, DVD Drive

Customer Reviews of Chess Endgames Combo (1-4)
Jim from Murray Chess Endgames Combo (1-4) ReviewI purchased this 4 DVD set from Wholesale Chess recently and have so far only watched the first DVD, but I am very pleased with my purchase. Although Karsten Mueller's native language is German, his English is clear and he is quite articulate, as one might expect considering that he has a PhD. You can see samples of all the Fritz Trainer series chess instructors at the Chessbase website. There are also longer samples on the Fritz playing software. I look forward to buying Fritz Trainer DVDs featuring Andrew Martin (and if anyone sells these cheaper than Wholesale Chess I haven't been able to find them), because he has a personality and it easy for an English-only speaker like myself to understand. Mueller also has a personality, though at least one reviewer of his DVDs describe him as grave. I like his teaching style and I don't find him grave, I find him serious about a game that he obviously loves as much as it is possible to love chess. When I saw that Wholesale Chess offered Mueller's endgames combo I ordered it immediately, as it is a good deal and there are 24 hours worth of instruction on the DVDs, and I am sure I will watch many lessons and probably all of them multiple times. I'm sure that the book Fundamental Chess Endgames by Mueller and Frank Lamprecht is as excellent as reviewers unanimously declare, but I find studying chess books tedious and being able to get the same information in the Fritz Trainer DVD format is a nice alternative.
