The House of Staunton is proud to offer the Centurion Series Chess set. A full tournament-sized Chess set, it features a 4.0" King with a 1.875"diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a beautiful finish. The design of the Centurion Series Chess set is an slight modification of the heirloom quality Collector Series Chessmen, allowing us to offer this quality Chess set at an affordable price. It has been crafted to replicate the design and proportions of the original Staunton pattern Chessmen, registered by Nathaniel Cook in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849. The distinctive feature of this set is the the open-mitered Bishop and Knight design, a truly royal steed designed by the Maestro, Frank A. Camaratta, Jr.
