Description of Colored Chess Pieces - Assortment
This fun and colorful combo gives you one set each of all eight of our colored chess pieces -- 17 pieces of each color (extra queens included).
Colors in this plastic combo include Black, White, Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Pink and Purple. You can mix and match from within the combo to make four complete chess sets in endless color combinations.
These plastic chess pieces are the same size, style and weight as our Basic Club Chess Pieces only in a variety of fun colors. These chess pieces meet all chess tournament standards and regulations. They are a standard staunton design and have a 3 3/4" tall King with a 1 1/2 " base. They are just like our Heavy Tournament Chess Pieces but without the extra weight and cost.

However, they always fight over these colored pieces. It has made many students play more simply because they like the colors. I have changed the color combinations around and that again gets more kids playing. Great vivid colors--just make sure you get four boards to go with the pieces.

It actually kind of blew me away when I realized how much I got for such little money, it kinda made me feel like I was taking advantage of wholesale chess. Ah well. Someone said in a review I read that the blue pieces were darker then expected. They did look very dark in the bag, but once they are opened and in the light, they look very close to the color in the picture. In fact all of the colors once out of the bags did. Pink and Purple maybe "strange" by some people, but I like it, gives the girls a set they can call their own. Pink as white, purple as black, come on! The pieces were actually bigger then i thought they'd be, but only because i have no concept of an inch. These aren't the cheap plastic set you get from walgreens (like I was trying to replace) but darn it, I got better pieces then I was expecting. Thanks again Wholesale chess. Hope you made SOME money on me, cause it doesn't feel like ya did.

Pros: as advertised, you receive 128 pieces for less than the price of most single sets. However, for some reason, I received extra queens as well, which brought the total to 136 pieces! Cons: the color choices are a little odd. I would rather see brown and tan instead of pink and purple. Also, the blue is very dark.The bottom line: lots of bang for your buck, great for Bughouse and 4-player variants, or if you just want a splash of color. Highly recommended!
