Description of Fianchetto Series Wood Chess Pieces 4" King - Bud Rosewood
In chess the Fianchetto is an opening pattern of development wherein a bishop plays a key roll. One of the major benefits of the Fianchetto is that it allows the bishop to become more active, and control a lot of squares - becoming a powerful offensive weapon.
Just like the Fianchetto opening this sets bishop controls a commanding presence with its modern design. Adjacent to the bishop is the beautifully carved knight with braided mane and bridle. The Fianchetto Series from our Premier Collection is Crafted from Red Sandal Wood and Boxwood. Red Sandal Wood is a striking, red-burgundy-colored, light-grained, exotic wood which is more expensive than ebony, but is much more resilient and less likely to develop hairline cracks so prevalent in weighed ebony chessmen. This beautiful set will enhance any room.
The King stands 4" tall with a 1 7/8" base. From the bridled knight to the unique Bishop, these pieces are sure to catch the eye. These pieces fit well on a board with 2.25 - 2.5" squares.
