Description of Majestic Staunton Wood Chess Pieces with 4" King - Sheesham
The Majestic Staunton Wood Chess set is yet another set new to our collection of fine wood chess pieces.
The eye-catching king stands 4 inches tall with a 1 3/4 inch base. The knight is as noble a steed as we have ever seen in a set in this price range. You will be proud to have this set on permanent display for all your friends and associates to admire.
This set is made from Sheesham and Boxwood and has felt bottoms. Typical to fine wood, the grain and color may vary slightly from piece to piece. Treat them as you would fine furniture. Avoid leaving them in direct sunlight and store them in a humidity stable area.
We suggest using a board with squares at least 2 1/4 inches. Complete set of 32 pieces - extra queens not available for this set.

The queens crown, rook crenelations, and knight's ears all seem sturdy.The decoration on the King's crown is a bit fragile, so I cut some cardboard cylinders from a foil roll to protect them.

The queen has a crown with tips that appear smooth (perfect to not hurt); that crown is the height of the king's head, not like many other sets that have a very short queen. The horse has his face with realistic features, a work of art. The bishop just as I like: elongated head. I prefer a fuller tower in the middle, but this is the perfect height. In the picture you can see the line of inclination, ranging from king to pawn, to be perfectly straight. All pieces have the right ratio. Had a heavier version (about 4 lbs) with the same dimensions, I would buy it with pleasure and without hesitation.

The Majestic Staunton set in Sheesham and Boxwood is perfect for what I was looking for. I also wanted a four inch King which this set has. The pieces look impressive on the board and I keep it set up at all times. The pieces are nicely weighted and feels great to play a game. This set does not come with an extra Queen.
