Description of Reykjavik Complete Chess Set with Pieces, Board and Box in Rosewood
Are you looking for a distinctive Chess Set at a really good price? The Reykjavik Complete Chess Set has the Reykjavik Pieces (item WSC517) that are like the pieces Grandmaster Bobby Fischer used to beat reigning World Champion Grandmaster Boris Spassky in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1972. The chess set that was used during this historic chess match –the Reykjavik Chess Set--was produced by the famous Jaques of London, the game company that also first introduced the classic Staunton chess pieces. These beautiful reproduction c hess pieces with a 3 3/4" king are available in a distinctively grained Rosewood.
It comes with a Rosewood & Maple Chess Board (item WSC1002A) with 2 1/8" Squares. The beveled edge of the board is black, making it and the narrow black band around the squares the perfect accent for the highly grained rosewood and maple squares. The board is backed with felt so it will not scratch the surface where it sits.
The eye-catching Burlwood Pattern Chess Box measures 9 3/8 x 7 3/8 x 4 inches. The lid is accented with a black edge to add another distinctive note.
