I have a few issues with it, but these issues can't really be a complaint since its not meant to be a full size chess board. But when you fold up the set with a position, the pieces stick to the sides and come off the board. So you can't store a position for later. Its a great little set though.
Jeff from Phoenix Checkbook Magnetic Travel Chess Set ReviewEvery time I get these, the paint on the front of the pieces sticks either to other pieces or to the board itself and disfigures the pieces so badly that I can't determine what the heck they are, or even what color they are! Perhaps it's simply the climate in AZ, but these sets ALWAYS become disfigured quickly when the paint from the pieces touches anything for an extended period of time. My suggestion: take the pieces from this and stick them on the magnetic aluminum board.

If I'm keeping a position, I slip index cards over the top of the pieces to keep them in place. Major upside: I had a Diet Coke explode in a bag with this thing and I simply rinsed it off and it was as good as new!

However, it needs some dividers between the 2 folds so that the chess pieces do not stick to the top of the next fold, pulling it off its square when a game is in process & the the set is folded. I use 3 x 5 cards for this purpose.
Rob from New Jersey Checkbook Magnetic Travel Chess Set ReviewFor the price, these little foldable sets are great -- the magnets are strong and the board is convenient to fit in a pocket. The only drawbacks are that (1) the bishop's design isn't standard, and if you're not careful, you can confuse it for a pawn, (2) the pieces will unnaturally stick to the board and the cover if they are not put away in the storage area, and (3) if you're not careful, you can rip or tear the pieces when you first punch them out of the sheet on which they arrive. Still, I recommend this product.

For the price, it makes it easy to have one in the car, one in my back pack, one in my camera bag, and one in my jacket pocket! I'm always ready for a game or analysis. One minor drawback is that you do have to put the pieces back into the sheet they punch out of when you're done playing or you WILL lose them. This makes setting up and taking down take a little longer than I'd like, and it also makes it so you can't fold it up and put it away with a game (or analysis) in progress, but for the price it's definitely worth it.

If you put it in your back pocket and sit on it for awhile, it'll bend. (personal experience) However, still pretty sweet for only a couple bucks.

If one is interested in a very inexpensive chess set over which significant grief will not occur if it is lost or damaged, this is an acceptable purchase.

We always play chess with it in band hall, when the band director starts working with like the flutes or low brass, and she just rants about stuff to them, and we're like just over in the trumpet section playing chess! Also, I play with them in class and stuff. Like, after a test, if I sit by a friend, then when we're both done and everyone else is still taking the test, we slip the chess board to each other, passing it back and forth after making our moves! It's great! We even held a chess tournament after an exam between all the people in class who wanted to play. I just bring it every single day, cause it folds up and fits in my back pocket like a wallet would. So, I've got it 24-7 Well, that's all. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. As a gift, it's really great and really cheap. For yourself, it's really sweet to have. Highly recommend to anyone in the world who knows how to play chess.That's all. John
