I wouldn't choose to play on it except in a real pinch, but it's fun to have on there and it kinda makes a statement about being a chessnut! It opens really easily so I recommend keeping the pieces in the little plastic baggy they come in. It'll make the difference between picking up one larger object or 32 tiny ones, and probably losing them. After a while I started wrapping a rubber band around it to keep it closed. Overall, a fun little novelty item at a great price.

And, if you have adult fingers, it's pretty difficult to move pieces in and out of the board. On the other hand, my students really got a kick out of them and were passing them during History class within a week... Several were confiscated. Fun prize to give away, but not exactly practical.
