Customer Reviews of Chess Trainer

Patrick from Willingboro, NJ Chess Trainer ReviewI wrote the first review on this product and I still feel that this is a fantastic program. The one thing about this program that I do not like and find to be quite annoying is the use of the long algebraic notation. I thought that the program would switch to the abbreviated notation after the lesson on this subject. The program continues to use the long algebraic notation for the rest of the program. This would be the biggest change that I would make to this program.

Pat from Willingboro Chess Trainer ReviewThe Chess Trainer has been an excellent program to help my school's Chess Team learn and/or improve its game. From a beginning chess player to an experienced one, there has been something for everyone. The program covers topics such as Boards and Pieces, Castling, Notation, Attacks, Defense, Openings, Checkmate and many more. The program will not load onto a computer, so one must use the CD at all times. The user can add a player at any time, and the program will track the sections completed and the test results. Each player can go through the program at his or her own pace, and as often or as infrequently as desired. A review of the completed lessons is always available. Each student should pay attention throughout the program, as there are tests to monitor the mastery of each section.Using the program is extremely easy, as anyone can navigate to and through any section. There is a board with internationally recognized chess symbols. In each section there is animation of the pieces with supporting graphics and commentary of the action taking place. When players get stuck, they can request a hint or the correct solution. This is also true when taking the tests, and the program will take into account the player's inquiries for results in that section. The program comes with an extra disk that teaches how to play a variation of chess called Chess 960.
