Customer Reviews of Deep Shredder 12 - Multiprocessor Version

Alex from Staten Island Deep Shredder 12 - Multiprocessor Version ReviewIt's definitely one of the strongest chess programs I've used. It's doesnt' work well on notebooks, it tends to give very weak analysis. You would need a CPU with multiple cores or 2 CPUs with multiple cores. All in all, you need CPU power. And a lot of RAM doesn't hurt either. It does work well with Windows 7 64-bit. Just to give you some comparison, I gave it a problem to solve where the solution is more than one, but if a human was to solve it, we would almost always choose Kc2. As this is the correct way as we think, with all things considered of course. Other chess programs chose h6, moving the pawn instead of the king. This is the way computers think, which they found quickly. Deep Shredder took some time to think, about 20 minutes, but it preferred Kc2. I was impressed. The whole interface is the same as Fritz 12. That new interface that emulates Office 2007. They also improved on the use of multiple interfaces like if you wanted to buy Deep Fritz 12, you can use both programs, before you couldn't do that. For me, I use the program to analyze my games after I finished playing, esp. the ones where I can't figure out why I lost. I never play against it, as in a friendly game. I recommend using it with a large opening tree, like powerbook or opening encyclopaedia. Go through your games with these opening trees, it will correct your opening mistakes. Good luck in your games.
