This set is a superior club set. It is heavier and nicer looking when compared to the older solid club special set of the past (that I grew up with in High School) while maintaining its traditional ruggedness/indestructible quality and superbly popular French Lardy Knight Staunton design. The first time I have ordered the set I had a bad experience with the molding of the pieces as they were bent. However, the dedicated customer service staff at Wholesalechess quickly rectified the problem and now I have a new set in perfect condition. In addition a bigger, and heavier weighted tournament plastic set; I think that it is plausible to say that everybody should also own a solid quality club set because it is an all purpose set for: tournament,analysis, toss around casual play; and travel. I also have the analysis set from here; which is great too by the way, and ideally suited for more confined spaces like smaller desks.

I was initially surprised at the amount of scratching that they have on them compared to the online pictures, although I guess you can't expect perfection for a $5 set. They are hard and durable, a nice set to use for playing with kids or when you don't want to use a nicer one for fear of something happening to it.
