Paul from Phoenix Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewPurchase of this clock was a good buying experience for me.
Bob from Madison Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewIt is a very good clock for the advanced user. It has numerous features. Instructions are complex, but so is the clock. It is a good value overall. I would recommend it to any person who really loves the game of chess and will be playing in timed tournaments (whether big or small).
Dean from Silver Spring Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewGreat clock. It seems to be in good working order after a quick test of basic functions.
Jose Luis from Loja Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewThey are good products and at a good price
Stanley from Seattle Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewPros: Looks great! Many, many timing options. Great value. Very nice feeling buttons and stoppers. Has options for sound and/or lights.Cons: None
Brandon from Pittsburg Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewGreat clock. There is a short learning curve, but honestly it is very simple to use. Highly recommended.
DON from LAS CRUCES Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewExactly what I was looking for. Lots of timing options.
Bob from Dayton Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewMy first chess clock. Complex but after becoming familiar not a problem. For me the audio signals are not loud enough. I realize that in close quarters with many clocks a loud beeper might be objectionable. A volume control other than on/off would be useful.
Frank from Arizona Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewThis is an excellent Chess Clock. Read the manual first and you will be pleased. Functions beautifully and has many formats. You won't go wrong with this one. Also, my wife likes the lighted buttons that turn red seconds before your time is up and nice plus.....
Frank from Arizona Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewFor the money spent I believe this Chess Clock is the best you can get. It's well made and has many functions and features. Pleased with the purchase.
Fred from Boise Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewI bought the DGT Easy Game Timer but was quickly missing features such as adding seconds for each move and more. I got the Saitek recently and love it! For just $10 more, it is definitely worth it.
n from Boulder Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewGood clock, good price - shipped fast!
Will Gindlesperger from Delray Beach Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewClock is awesome should include batteries though.
Calvin from Fresno Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewIt is amazing it has so many features. Many of my friends now have it and buy from this site. You should buy this clock. I went to over ten chess sites and this was the cheapest in prices.
Victor from Lewisburg, PA Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewFor about 3 mos after purchasing this clock I would have given it 1-2 stars and agreed with those reviewers who thought it overly complicated to operate. But then I figured out something that I suspect those who found it easy knew all along but I thought might be helpful to some in the future. And this is NOT well spelled out in the manual. Namely, be sure when trying to edit or change any setting that the switch on the bottom of the clock is set to modify. Simple right??? Only if you've got it figured out! After that everything to me seems all too simple!
reuben from chicago Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III Reviewgreat clock for the money, the excalibur game timer only lasted me 2 years, the excalibur grandmaster computer only lasted 5! a sensor on c 1 malfunctioned and it would cost me as much as the game for repair. excalibur informed me that they did not have a repair department and that the warranty was only 1 year. the clock and the computer i will regard as $250 worth of mistakes. i am now happy and pleased with the saitek mephisto master(easier functions and a stronger program in addition to easier entry levels than the excalibur) and it can even do "fun" and speed chess. WHOLESALE CHESS is the best! THEY SELL THE BEST FOR THE LEAST AMOUNT AND MAKE CERTAIN THAT CUSTOMERS AS MYSELF ARE SATISFIED!
J.D. from Chapel Hill, N.C. Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewThis is an excellent clock. I am new to clocks and did not realize how many more types of timed games you can play with a digital clock as opposed to analog. Fischer bonus time, hourglass, regular blitz and a mode for SCRABBLE or other word games give this clock a great value. I do wish the clock came in a sturdier carrying case since I need it to be portable, but the clock has held up well so far. This clock can time a game no matter how you want to do it.
Erik from Rockford, IL Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewAwesome clock, every time control you will ever use (and some you might never use). Anyone with a brain will figure out how to navigate with only a little playing around. Sturdy construction takes average wear and tear, probably more, but I haven't exactly kicked it around the room.
Mike from Milwaukee, WI Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewAn excellent product for the price. I purchased one for myself and another for my son. I had read prior to purchase that some reviewers found it complicated, but I was able to use it out of the box with no trouble. The presets are easy to select and the many available settings are printed on the bottom of the clock for quick reference. There is also a quick reference card, presumably for use if the printing on the bottom of the clock should fade or rub off.The construction is solid; it is heavier than I expected and seems durable. The fact that it takes C batteries instead of AA is a plus, as the batteries should last a long time. While the variety of available presets is quite broad, there are many that I will probably never use, such as the "Fischer" or "Bronstein" clocks with bonus time. In my experience as a junior chess coach, the "delay" is the most common feature for tournament and even casual games and I would have liked to have seen more than just two presets for this. Of course there are three available "user" presets which can be programmed, which is probably what I'll do to solve this shortcoming.
Jay from Oxford Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewThis is a very nice clock at a nice price as well. It has all the time controls you'll need and a few user defined spots available. Yes, you will need to read the manual to use it, but once you get the hang of it the manual is not so important. There is also a quick reference on the bottom of the clock! Very pleased with mine.
Anthony from Winnipeg Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewThis clock is actually relatively easy to set, IF one spends a few minute to RTFM (read the fine manual) and experimenting with it. Very sturdy and we have used 7 at the club for approx 5 years now with no defects apparent.
Vincent from Los Angeles Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewPro's: 1. Doesn't feel cheap.2. Many good usuable preset time controls.3. Easy to set user defined controls4. Lights and sounds when flag falls. Sounds and lights can be turned off if it need be.5. Easy to read display.6. Easy to follow instruction manual.7. Fits in a tournament chess bag. Cons:1. It only counts down in full seconds only and not tenths of seconds. May be important for you blitz addicts out there.Overall it's a good value for the price. Suitable clock for most chess players.
Dan from Albany Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewNice clock, but difficult to figure out how to use. The instruction manual is virtually indecipherable and the logic of the control panel is puzzling. For example, to change the time, stay away from the edit button! Begin by pressing and holding the Pause button for four seconds to get into the "select timer mode." Why not just have a "Select Mode" button instead? At other times, you'll want to push the Pause button for three seconds to reset the times. You can also push the Pause button if you want to pause the clock. Hmmm....if you want to Pause (e.g., to ask a question to the TD) but hold the Pause button down too long, the times are reset. These and other complications make it so I don't have much confidence that the clock will actually do what I think I have it programmed to do. And, sadly, often it does not behave as expected, usually because somewhere in navigating the labyrinth of various combinations of buttons that need to be pushed in precisely the right sequence and timings, a mistake is made--time is not added after the first time control is met, times are reset, a five-hour blitz game is begun (sometimes some of the display digits are for hours, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for number of moves--but no indication which mode is currently operative).
Rob from Charleston Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewNo offense intended, but I'm amazed that people are finding this clock difficult to use. It's really very simple and much easier than the Chronos. I think this is one of the better values for the money. If you don't think you'll ever use increment time controls, you should probably get the less expensive, blue model, which is even simpler to use. Anyway, this clock will handle any sort of time control you are likely to encounter and it's not noisy, either. I'll certainly take this over the Excalibur model! Just one opinion.
Victor from Rockville Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewThe clock works. Other than that, it is really difficult to use and hard to set up, and the controls are anything but intuitive. It took some real scrutiny of the instruction manual to even get to play regular timed game. Would not really recommend this clock to those who have not seen it before.
Cal from Rogers Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewI've enjoyed this clock - it has a lot of features that I'm looking for, and has a nice look to it.
Gil from Colorado Springs Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III ReviewClock is very complex and has settings I will never use. All I wanted was a simple digital chess clock, but apparently, no such thing exists.
