Okay, here they are! The much-anticipated finalists of our t-shirt selection contest. Wholesale Chess is gearing up for the new scholastic chess season and adding chess t-shirts to our great selection of chess equipment and accessories. Before we go preparing those chess t-shirts, we want to hear what you think!

The winning t-shirts will be available for pre-ordering in the coming weeks at a discounted price (normal selling price will be around $13.99 – $15.99). More information will come as the voting finishes out at the end of August.

    I like “Choose your weapon”

  2. Anibal M. Santos says:

Sample #3 is the one for me!

  3. Jeff says:

Honestly, i’m not fond of any of the designs. I’d suggest less text and better graphics and even a bit of color to make them more attractive. I can’t see my daughters finding any of them fashionable enough to wear, they’re 6 and 8 btw. Nonetheless, great idea to expand into tshirts, we look forward to your future designs.

  4. John Odell says:

I like #8 and #10. I would say about a 50% chance of purchasing them but I would definitely tell my players about them and give them the chance to purchase them.

  5. Adam Porth says:

#1,3,4,5 are t-shirts I would like. Great Idear! #10 and #11 are too negative. I think the cost should be lower however, as I would not be able to purchase a quantity large enough for a discount. Our club gets shirts silk screened for about $6/shirt and sell them for around $10. Maybe through some samples in for those of us that purchase lot’s of equipment? I love wholsale chess and have a link to you from my website.

  6. jack says:

    i like # 4, 5, 8 in that order. like someone else i would need 2x/3x shirts

  7. tony christian says:

4, 5, 10 & 11 are fine…also, i think colors other than just black and white would really jazz up these t’s…i would also consider a greater selection with only 7 shirts to choose from here ; – )

  8. sharon says:

#1 and #10 would be my preferred. As for our club ordering, I think it would depend partially on availability of kids’ sizes. Pricing seems ok, though a couple of bucks less may be more of an enticement for individuals who order.

  9. Gary S. Dillard says:

I like sample #5, King/Queen option. These would make great prizes for a school tourney, and I would likely purchase one or more if the price range is $14-$16. Oh, and Frank H, the queen is for female and the king for male in case you are confused, they are offering an option not front and back.

  10. Jim says:

My favorite is number 1. My least favorite is 11 because it makes me think of Columbine and other school shootings. (I love violent movies – Scarface and stuff like that – I just don’t know if I’d want to see boys and teenage males wearing a shirt that says “kill.”)

I’m not part of a chess club but if I was involved with a chess club whose members were in the K-12 system I’d definitely want to buy shirts for the members at the prices listed.

  11. Denise T says:

I like sample #8 followed by sample #4. I like the idea of a small graphic on the front with the larger graphic on the back. A choice of colors for the tees would be good, too!

  12. Scott T says:

Of the above samples, I like Sample #11 the best, followed by #8 & #10 (8 & 10 should have the design moved to the back of the shirt if there is no second graphic).

At $13.99 – 15.99, there would only be a 40% chance of me purchasing a shirt, though, as I have too many T-shirts as it is. :-)

  13. frank hernandez says:

#1 – positive messages on back of shirt- of course it would be NICE to win!
#3 – is simple and expresses a “nice” message.
#4 – is also simple and to the point.
#5 – Limited. How many guys are REALLY gonna wear the QUEEN T-shirt..”not that there’s anything wrong with that!” — Jerry Seinfield.
So there you’re limiting yourself on sales.
    #8 – is good.
#10- Is kinda In Your Face.
    #11 – Too AGGRESSIVE….maybe its just me :-(

    I would select either: 8-3-4-1
***suggestion: A T-shirt with a KNIGHT….thats kool and I WOULD buy that one!

  14. Ray Kappel says:

i like the “where competition meets intellect” the best of this group, although the first one is good, too.

  15. Jim Rendek says:

I like shirts 10,5 & 4 in that order. At those prices I might take interest but I require 2 or 3XL which is not always offered. The prices for basic white with minimal design choices must be good otherwise people will buy from cafepress.com who has almost unlimited designs, colors and sizes (which I did just buy some from). Their drawback is they are pricey. Zazzle.com is also much like cafepress. Cafepress (like WSC) has great service too.
