PRIMARY CHAMPIONSHIP (K-3) – SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2010

2 sections: 1. Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 6 players, top 3 schools, top rated Under 900 and top 3 unrated. 2. Junior Varsity: Open to Under 700 or unrated. Trophies: top 6 players, top 3 schools, top rated Under 500 and top 3 unrated. Trophies to the top 3 Kindergartners!

JUNIOR HIGH CHAMPIONSHIP (K-8) – SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2010

2 sections: 1. Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 6 players, top 3 schools, top rated Under 1200 and top 3 unrated. 2. Junior Varsity: Open to Under 1000 or unrated. Trophies: top 6 players, top 3 schools, top rated Under 700 and top 3 unrated.

ELEMENTARY CHAMPIONSHIP (K-6) – SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2010

2 sections: 1. Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 6 players, the top 3 schools, top rated Under 1000 and top 3 unrated. 2. Junior Varsity: Open to Under 800 or unrated. Trophies: top 6 players, top 3 schools, top rated Under 600 and top 3 unrated.

HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP (K-12) – SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2010

2 sections: 1. Varsity: open to all. Trophies: top 6 players, top 3 schools, top rated Under 1500 and top 3 unrated. 2. Junior Varsity: Open to Under 1200 or unrated. Trophies: top 6 players; top 3 schools, top rated Under 900 and top 3 unrated.

Format: four separate, one-day scholastic tournaments, two on Saturday, two on Sunday, each is 5-Round, Swiss-System tournament (everyone play all 5 rounds, no one is eliminated). Each game is 30 minutes per player (Game/30), rated by the United States Chess Federation (USCF). Each championship has 2 sections from, which to choose. Great for beginners- all players receive a national chess rating! Many will be playing in their first tournament; others, including some of the top youngsters in the Mid-west will be competing for the Championship titles!

Awards: Each section of each tournament awards prizes for the top-scoring players and schools in for both individual and team prizes. Any number of players may participate from a school to help compete for team prizes (3 or more from a school make a team), but the school’s 4 top-scoring players produce its team score. Players without school team compete for individual prizes.

Any player who scores 4 or more points and doesn’t win a trophy will receive a medal!

Game Times: 10AM, 12 noon, 2PM, 3:30PM & 5:15PM

Those unable to play all five games may request ½-point byes in advance for rounds which they cannot play

Current USCF Membership required to participate (in any rated tournament in US). USCF annual dues: Young adult (age 24/ below) $32 per player, includes 12 issues of Chess Life magazine;

youth (age 15/ below) $27 per player, includes 12 issues of Chess Life magazine;

Scholastic (if age 12/ below) $23 per player, includes 6 issues of Chess Life for Kids.
