Over eighty problems in chess are presented in large, open diagrams, one to a page, appropriate for children who are being taught chess by readers of Chess and Children, or for any child who knows the rules and has some familiarity with the game.
Each diagram represents a critical point in the game, and the reader is challenged to answer the question in each case: "What's the Best Next Move?" Solutions are given in notation form on the page following each diagram.
George Francis Kane planned the two books as companion volumes and has included in Chess and Children in What's the Next Move? for those who wish to make use of the two together. Both books are, however, entirely independent of each other. Chess and Children can be used effectively without benefit of the accompanying book for children, and What's the Next Move? is an excellent tool for any beginner who wants to learn to play the game better.
