Ivan Ivanisevic was born on 23 November 1977 in Belgrade. He learned the game of chess at the age of five and at the age of ten began to work with IM Peter Smederevac. As a junior he won the championship of Belgrade ans Serbia and at the age of twenty he shared 1st place in the Yugoslav Championship. He became a grandmaster at the age of 22 and reached a peak rating of 2665. He has been a member of the Serbian national team since 1998 and top board since 2007. He has played in seven Chess Olympiads and nine European Championships. He has been Serbian champion six times and has won many team championships with various clubs in different countries. Amongst his many tournament wins are the Balkan Championship (Podgorica 2011), St. Petersburg (2014) and Skopje (2015), and he participated in the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk in Russia in 2011. He contributes to several publications, including Chess Informant, New in Chess and Chessbase, and in 2015 co-authored The Taimanov Bible with colleagues Milos Perunovic and Robert Markus, a Thinkers Publishing title.
