The House of Staunton, in conjunction with the legendary Mechanics Institute Chess Club, is proud to offer the Mechanics Institute Series Chess set. It features a 4.25" King with a 1.875" diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a rich French Polish finish.

THE CHESSBOARD

Crafted in Spain, the House of Staunton Standard Traditional Striped Ebony / Bird's Eye Maple wooden Chessboard features Striped Ebony (dark) and Bird's Eye Maple (light) squares with a Striped Ebony frame. This veneered Chessboard is 0.5" thick, has a satin finish and a beautiful moulded edge.

THE CHESSBOX

The Premium Chess Box has been designed by the experts at the House of Staunton to perfectly hold your favorite chessmen, up to a 4.4” king height with additional queens. It features brass quadrant hinges, green billiard cloth lining, and a lock and key with tassel.
