Not a mousepad chess board at all

Posted by Unknown on 1st Jun 2015

I was expecting what is generally considered to be a mousepad chess board, which is a rollable chess board made of mousepad material; in this case, I didn't get that. Instead, I got a vinyl board that will not stay flat after being rolled up for a while, which means it's effectively a piece of crap for me.

    Great portable board!

Posted by Unknown on 19th Mar 2015

This mouse pad style board is good for on the go, it rolls up nicely to go in your chess bag. I had mine rolled up for almost 10 days and it seems to keep the creases out better than the vinyl boards, I do like it alot, i do have a couple of gripes though . The pieces don't glide like they do with the vinyl boards because of the felt thats on the bottom of the pieces, if you have these types of pieces, and the material that the surface of the board is made out of. Which brings up my next gripe. Because of the material that these boards are made out of I don't know how easy it would be to clean them if you spilled something on them, because the surface is made out of, the best i can describe it is, like a little bit cloth like material. I have never really gotten my boards dirty before, but this could be an issue for some other people. I know i have said some negative stuff here but over all I like the board cause of it's versatility and will be using it alot

    Nice replacement for vinyl boards

Posted by Leslie on 1st Jan 2015

We use these week in and week out in K-8 club and they take a beating, but keep looking and functioning great. I love how flat they lay even after being folded in storage, never a rolled edge. Highly recommend.

    Mousepad boards

Posted by Unknown on 16th Dec 2014

Excellent, they don't bend or maintain a fold no matter how you put them away, and they are easy to cut and re-size (We play on a board 9 X 10 square = 90 squares). Stay away from the crappy large size carry bags this company sells. They look just like the good ones in online pictures, but they are junk. The zippers start breaking after about one month of use.

The Best Roll-up Chess Board for Tournaments and Clubs

Posted by Mark on 11th Dec 2014

This is the best roll-up chess board for tournaments and clubs. It lays flat everytime and does not wrinkle after use or being roll-up for a while. It has the mousepad rubber bottome that keeps it in place so that it does not move around like the basic and quality vinyl chess boards do. The thick rubber mousepad bottom gives the board a nice soft padded feel when you place the piece on the board. The surface is made of a linen or cloth material that is easy to maintain and stay clean as it does not collect dust or lint. Although I have not had any problems and have never had to clean mine as it still looks brand new after playing many games on it, if someone was to spill something on it, it would need to be cleaned with soap and water immediately to prevent the cloth from being stained if it is coffee or tea or other type of staining substance. It comes in a large plastic bag that I use to roll it up and place it back in the same plastic bag that it came in rather than putting in the bag and then rolling it up. This helps to keep it looking clean and new. The only disadvantage that I have experienced with it is it will not fit in the carry all chess bag, but will fit in the premier chess bag or nylon sackpack. This is the same chessboard that is sold with the Premier chess set, except it is 20 x 20 rather than 22 x 22. I have both the 20" and 22" and both are great depending on what size you like or need to play on. I have several colors and sizes of the mousepad board and personally prefer the blue, but the black really matches the black pieces well. I highly recommend the mousepad chess board for tournaments, clubs and anywhere you like to play chess at a great value from Wholesalechess com.

    Good looking board

Posted by Pamela Hermano on 10th Oct 2014

Great mousepad board. Definitely worth the money. I know the sides will definitely fray with time but it's so inexpensive it won't even matter I'll just buy another. I like how it doesn't slide around and neither do the pieces. I chose the navy color and really like the look. What prevented me from giving a perfect score is that mine came with minor stains on the corners. I'd definitely buy it again when wear and tear takes its toll.
