This silicone chess board is one of the more unusual chess boards we have carried. It is made of smooth silicone, which produces a rubber-like board that is very flexible. Because of this the board can be stored in a variety of ways without creasing like a vinyl board. Due to the nature of silicone these boards may have a slight wave/bend that is always present in the board but does not impact play on the board. You can see an example in image above of the side of the board. This board is tournament size measuring 19 1/2" x 19 1/2" and has 2 1/4" inch squares.
This unique silicone board has notation comes in four colors- blue, black, green, and red. The board can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and spilled liquids will not penetrate it.
These boards are sure to cause inquiring glances and even a few requests to feel the board wherever you choose to show it off.
I purchased a green/whitewer and blue/white. The boards met all my expectations. Colors were great, and the lettering was flawless. Would purchase again.
i received my silicone chess board three days ago. I have not used it yet. But iam looking forward very much to use it real soon. I w3as impressed by the efficient and very professional way that you handled and expeditede thye order. I( am very impressed by the flexibility of thechessboard. The appearance of the chessboard is great, nice deep colored black squares, files and ranks.. When I unrolled the cjess board it had a very strong ru8bbery odor. But once again I am very anxious to use the chessboard. I will write a review on its performance.
I've ordered two of these boards and I really like them, but they seem to have a high defect rate. The first board I ordered was missing one side of grid labeling and the other wouldn't lay flat. The five stars is for wholesalechess.com 's customer service. They were very easy to deal with and sent defect-free replacements promptly.
I just received this a few days ago. Silicone board seems great. Product description says it will lay flat no matter how you roll it or fold it and, so far, that is true. I have been folding it up and storing it in one of their Perfect Fit Chess Piece bags and it unrolls and lays flat every time. So it takes up much less space than a rolled up vinyl board. Since I just got this, I don't know what the durability and lifespan of the board will be so this may not always be the case but we'll see. My board had a defect in one of the squares (missing some ink so it looks scratched) but I contacted customer service and they were very helpful and on the ball and have another board on the way to me (which, as of this writing, I have not received yet so can't review/compare it).
happy with the purchase
I guess it's just bad luck, but I ended up with a malformed board. A part of it always sticks up (and yes, I have tried stretching it out).
If it weren't for that, I would have given it a 5 (It rolls up easy, has no smell, and looks good on a table), but looking at how obvious the mistake is, I can't give it more than a 3.
The best roll up board I have ever used. Let's hope after lots of use the square colors do not wear or rub off.
The silicone chess board is a great value and easy to take with you to play with friends.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this.
It's a great board. It is light, folds into nearly any shape, and then lays flat every time you open it again. I bought mine with the silicone pieces and it has very quickly become my favorite set. I like it so much I bought another complete set. I can take it with me anywhere. If you are considering a "club" set I think you would be best off with this board and pieces rather than other boards with plastic piece combos.
