This is an exquisite board for this or any other price. Pieces slide effortlessly across the flawlessly smooth matte finish. Notations are subtle and appear like gold leaf. I've been over and over the board and have not found a single flaw. A beautiful piece of woodwork well worth the price and a thoroughly fabulous experience playing on it with your Premier Chess Pieces. A great combination!!!
I really like this board specially for the way the light does not hurt your eyes, excellent finish and the walnut tones are very elegant, but I know some people prefers darker mahogany.
This board is an excellent board. It has a nice smooth matte surface and my pieces glide across the squares with ease. I really love the 2.3 inch squares. They give the pieces plenty of room to move, and look great with a variety if pieces that I play with. Overall, I recommend the board. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is for a couple of nicks in one of the corners (very minor). But, other than that it perfect and I'm very happy with it.
This is an excellent and beautiful chess board with reasonable pice and serve my chess sets with a 4" king very well. The only pity is that when I was enjoying the just-arrived board, my two-year old jumped in and dumped all my heavy chess pieces on it and left some marks. It would be nice to have board made with harder materials at similar price range.
