New & Improved 2014 Version. Includes a larger display, quiter buttons & a new timing mode Move Time + Save. (Like move timer but the initial timer is added to the remaing time instead of replacing it.)
The DGT Easy is the first digital chess clock for everybody and for every game. The Easy clock combines high quality with absolute simplicity. Player friendly. Handy front buttons, simple one-touch reset, clear large display. Optional buzzer. The Easy comes in a nice gift-box. The DGT Easy is ideally suited for chess clubs, schools and home use.
DGT Easy Game Timer Feature List:
The DGT Easy does not include delay. If you need a clock with delay, please consider the DGT Easy Plus.
I like this Easy Game timer fine. But it is not easy to program and directions are terrible. Very confusing to setup the way you want it and save the game you want.
Works nice once set for a game. - I probably would get something different next time.
Programming it is not altogether intuitive, but it does come with an instruction manual (if you like to use those things). Take this rating with a grain of salt (read others); I'm pretty happy with the timer and have purchased several for my chess elective class. If you're picky, do your research first (what else would a picky person do?). Was invited by Wholesale Chess (who I am very happy with) to rate this item, so I have. I'd buy it again.
Time delay is now (and has been for some time) the standard in most tournament play in the United States. Time delay is not a "bells and whistles" feature. It is important to any coach who wants to prepare kids for play in scholastic tournaments. It is ridiculous to sell or buy a digital timer without a time delay function. At the very least it should be clearly marked that the clocks do not have it.
My students like to use this clock. It's only been a few weeks, but if it holds up over time, I'll be very happy with it. It's pretty easy to use.
I got these because I teach Chess to elementary children and I wanted something that would be easy to set up, quiet and economical. These clocks are all of these things. It is smaller than I thought it would be and I don't know how sturdy it will be yet. Time will tell.
A simple and effective timing device for beginners in chess. We didn't need the bells and the whistles.
The basic chess clock is easy to program and sturdy enough for club level and tournament play. Great product design and utility for the price plus overall value.
This clock broke within 2 games of using it. It is for my kids. They are rough on their toys and games but nothing out of the ordinary. If you press the off button a little harder than normally you could end up breaking the product so it will not turn on. I had to take it apart to fix it. Word of caution using this product.
Great clock, nice design. However, I quickly wanted more advanced features such as adding seconds for each move etc, and I ended up buying the Saitek Competition Pro Chess Clock III which has way more features and is only $10 more. They may be good for club use, but if you are buying it for yourself go for the Saitek.
