This Slotted Chess Demo Board is a serviceable, less expensive type of demo board for those who are really on a tight budget. It has all 32 chess pieces, 16 in red and 16 in black, which fit into the board through slots cut into the board material.
These boards are great for teaching, group analyzing, or displaying tournament chess games in progress. The demo board features 3" squares and large pieces. Two wooden dowels give the board support at top and bottom while a strong cord allows the chessboard board to be hung up almost anywhere.
The Bag is made of durable nylon and has a heavy-duty zipper closure at one end of the bag. It includes an adjustable handle for carrying convenience and keeps the demo board tightly packed and protected.
After reviewing this product and giving it a 5 stars, I just found out that one of the two demo board bags is about one inch shorter than the other one. I was wondering why it was so difficult to make the 2D plastic chess pieces fit in. Then I compared the bags and the mystery was revealed. I hope that WSC will send me another one without asking me to send the other one back. I hate that kind of trouble. Hey! My WSC friends! I am a very good client you know... ;)
Excellent!! Easy to store and use. Even smells good!
Great board for for group game or instruction. The quality isn't quite top notch. The "slits" under the squares which are used to place the pieces are not all centered properly so the pieces don't always rest quite right on the squares. The plastic pieces also have rough edges on the bottom. Not rough enough to pose any kind of safety hazard but I worry they could damage the vinyl board if people are not careful. (I smoothed the edges with some sandpaper to fix the problem so not a worry anymore.) Other than those two minor complaints, I really like this set. Can't really find a vertical/demo board for less money than this one so for the cost, I think this board works just fine.
I bought this for my 6-year-old who loves to teach us chess! He likes it very much. Sturdy enough to be played occasionally by a 2-year-old sister.
