If you want a set of plastic chess pieces that are quality, weighted, and more detailed than the standard plastic pieces, this is the set for you! These historical pieces were created to commemorate the famous 1895 Tournament at Hastings, England, in which many well known players competed, including Lasker, Tarrasch, Chigorin, and many more, but Harry Nelson Pillsbury, a young American from Massachusetts, became the winner. This was a surprise as Pillsbury was basically unknown outside of the United States at that point.
These pieces are available in black or red for the dark pieces and ivory/white or natural for the light pieces.
- King stands 4 inches
- King weighs 2.2 ounces
- 1.44 inch base on king
- Extra Queen of each color
The red pieces in this set are a dark crimson burgundy and may look darker than the photos above.
