Premier Tournament Chess Set Combo
WARNING: May Contain Small Parts.

Our new Premier Tournament Chess Set Combo is one of the nicest combination sets we have ever offered. It includes our elegant new Premier Pieces, which weigh in at a hefty 3 pounds 12 ounces per set for that heavy feel of fine chess pieces. The King stands proudly at 4⅛ inches and has a base of 1⅞ inches.

These pieces have a beautiful finish. The light side of the board comes in two color options -- ivory or natural. The ivory pieces are a shade darker than light ivory but not as dark as the caramel-color of some natural pieces. The natural pieces have a yellowish undertone. They play against a pure black side for excellent contrast. Of course, as you would expect, the set comes with two extra queens.

We offer this fine set with our new Large Mousepad Board (22 by 22 inches) with a generous 2⅜ inch square to set off the large pieces of the Premier pieces.

We are sure you will want to show these off at all your club meetings and tournaments and to get there you can carry this set in our new oversized Premier Tournament Bag, which we had made especially to handle this new large chess board and the larger Premier pieces. The bag is 27 inches long and has two oversized interior pockets to hold the pieces, the longer board and another generous padded pocket to hold a clock. It has an adjustable shoulder strap for easy transporting.

Treat yourself to a well deserved upscale set. This set includes:

  • Beautiful Premier Pieces in your choice of black and ivory or black and natural
  • Large Mousepad board
  • Premier Tournament Bag

    almost perfect

Posted by jack on 9th Mar 2017

The mousepad board is great. The bag is good but could be a little bigger. My pieces fit well and my large clock in the box fits but the board is a little squished. My main complaint is that the pieces came scratched and scuffed. They looked like they had a hard journey in shipping or perhaps they had been used before. I almost sent it back but was able to polish off the really large scuffs. Some of the dings and scratches remain.

    Great upgrade set

Posted by Max on 9th Dec 2016

We have 2 standard sets, but this is a major upgrade. The triple weight pieces make them feel more important and the sheer size of the board gives the game the gravitas it deserves.

This is no $500 wood set, but it is a solid set with a professional case. This is also the best price you can find for this combination. I am a fan.

    Best Chess Set I Have

Posted by KN on 12th Sep 2016

I am in love with this chess set! The bag holds everything snuggly, and the pieces are beautiful even though they are plastic. My only complaint is that the pieces had a few minor scuffs here and there probably due to them jostling around due to shipping, and you might find a bubble whole along the bottom part of the parting line in some pieces, but overall, it does what I need it to do and it is a nice set to look at!

    Where's the imperfection?

Posted by bob on 17th Jun 2016

All pices are there. Yup 34 4 queens. No cracks or chips and the pieces all look OK. The plastic bags were broken. Some pieces fell out and rattled around the cardboard shipping box. UPS did not damage the shipping box enough to allow pieces to fall out the crushed corners.

    trnmt set

The board is superior compared with plastic or evan wood , very nice.
The pieces are large , nice color and are not distracting.
They play well and are heavy wieghted.

the only thing i found negative about this combo set was on first impression of the pieces... you might think they are cheap plastic.

    Premier Travel Bag

Posted by Gary on 21st Mar 2016

Excellent bag and heavy duty chess pieces. Pieces are large and well weighted.

Bag holds everything and the large mouse pad chess board is a cut above the usual wrinkled vinyl boards. Its lays flat.

three stars, but read the review.....

Posted by Gary Graham on 6th Mar 2016

I would like to give this se 5 stars because I finally really like it, and I definitely give Wholesale Chess Customer Service a 6 out of 5 star rating.

When I got the set all of the black pieces were scuffed and scraped and some of the white pieces were discolored. However, after contacting customer service the sent me a new set that had been hand inspected before shipping and they were flawless when I got them.

My only real complaint with the se is the board. The mousepad board, fo me at least is a nightmare. It is way too thick and unruly to roll up much smaller that three inches in diameter. It cannot under any circumstances get wet, and it cannot ever be cleaned so if it gets stains or dirt you are just SOL.

I would urge anyone getting this set to insist that they swap out the 22x22 mouse pad board for a 22x22 vinyl board. Do NOT get that mouse pad board it is really awful. I suspect they have included it in the set to get rid of their stock because if isn't selling. It is a nightmare.

    Great chess set

Posted by Unknown on 13th Feb 2016

I had smaller wooden magnetic travel chess set. Lately my son and myself have been playing more chess. The travel set was sufficient. However, i felt I needed real full size tournament chess set for more rapid play. The smaller set was more clumsy as we will bump other pieces into each other. The premier set is big and weighted which is perfect. Pieces are high quality. The mouse pad type board is perfect and durable. The case is also great. I only use the smaller set for it is intended for ( travel). Great set.

    Good but...

Posted by Jake on 3rd Feb 2016

I have played with tournament sets in the past, so I know who they look and feel. This set feels similar, its just a bit bigger. The queen, oh the queen, how she is so aggressively pointy… your going to need to sand her down. The set is not bad, the bag is cheap, zipper already broke, had it a week traveled 3 times with it. The pieces themselves are rough and unfinished, glue all over them and what not, board is good enough, and much larger than you think it will be. Really easy set to play with, positive move control from the players.

Overall the set is cheap enough price wise, but you get what you pay for, it’s a cheap set with cheap quality, they could do better… but who cares, skill is what counts, not the pieces.
