This handsome set comes with our Traditional Staunton Chess Pieces, our Soft Mousepad Board and our Carryall Tournament Bag.

Our Traditional Staunton Chess Pieces are a high-end Staunton style set. The set weighs about 2 lbs 13 ounces, and has a 3 ¾" king with a beautiful British-style knight. They come in several color combinations, including black, blue, or red for the dark pieces, and ivory or natural for the light pieces.

The 20" Soft Mousepad Board is a great chess board for blitz play as it always lay flat and won't slide or move. It has 2¼" squares and algebraic notation around all sides of the chess board.

The Carryall Tournament Bag has two pockets for the pieces, a padded clock pouch, elastic loops to hold the board and a long pocket to carry scorebooks, note pads, etc. The bag measures apprixmately 24" x 7", comes with a detachable shoulder strap for easy transportation and has sturdy handles and zippers.

Good board and pieces, bad bag

Posted by Ian on 8th Mar 2019

I love the wieght and feel of the pieces, and the board feels good and lays flat. I am very disappointed with the bag. It is made from cheap materials and doesn't feel like it will last long. It is difficult to fit the pieces into the pockets, its a very tight fit. The clock pocket is not big enough for my DGT North American in the box. I will be keeping the board and pieces, but buying a larger higher quality bag. I hope they change the bag to make this otherwise great set a real winner.

Nice set. Roll up board better than was expected.

    Very loose quality control

Posted by Wyatt on 1st Jan 2017

Upon arrival of my new set, I immediately noticed a significant number of pieces were below standard. Many pieces have completely visible and ugly molding lines, while others are all but invisible. Nearly every piece came with some sort of stain or glue spot that won't come off, and the felt on the bottom of the pieces easily grabs onto the fabric-like surface of the mousepad board. The board itself came with many permanent dark marks and stains around the border and has an edge that will not lie flat. On top of all this, the carrying bag is NOT what the picture would lead you to believe. It is smaller and of lower quality, and my particular bag was constructed in such a way that I cannot fit the board into the elastic loops. Overall there was very little quality control for any of the pieces or board. Avoid buying this.

    Wake some pieces

I ordered probably $800.00 worth of chess supplies in past year. Gave most away as gifts. Need I Say more. So happy I am part of this site now.

    Functional, Very Good Quality

The weighted chess pieces and roll-up board were what I expected. The nylon fabric bag exceed my expectations. It is well made from quality parts.

    Nice set

Nice set for my son. I had trouble knowing what the differences between the board material for someone who does not play and knows nothing about chess. The felt at the bottoms looked worn on a couple of pieces but overall a great starter set for my son to play in with his chess club.

Pieces and Board all good, bag has changed for the worse

Posted by Greg on 29th Oct 2015

We have 3 of these sets now running around the house.....one is about a year old, two are new. Love the pieces, heavy and good looking. Like the boards, they roll out straight and look decent.

The bag, however, has changed, and it's changed for the worse. FAR worse. The Carryall Tournament bag has a note on it's page that it's going through an "upgrade" and that the interior bag might be different. LOL......"upgrade." It's two inches shorter in length, the color matching handle is now gone, and there are no padded interior pockets. The pockets for the pieces are much smaller than they used to be, and now it's a tight fit to get the pieces in. The old pockets for the pieces were padded and large, now they are just canvas and they are small. There is not one thing on the current bag that's a "upgrade." It's a much cheaper bag, and isn't at all what you see in the video, or what they used to ship.

Live the pieces a lot.....the bag, however, leaves a ton to be desired.
