Wholesale Chess is pleased to introduce our new Silicone Weighted Club Set. This set features our Heavy Tournament Pieces, Silicone Chess Board and our Drawstring Bag which holds the pieces and board.
The silicone board can be folded up and stored in the bag with the pieces. This set is great for travel and takes up much less space than our Carry-All Tournament bag.
Heavy Tournament Pieces
Our Heavy Tournament Chess Pieces are just that - heavy! The entire set weighs in at about 2 pounds and has a nice weighted feel. The pieces are easy to play with and their weight makes them perfect for tournaments or blitz play. With a King of 3¾" tall and a 1½" base, these pieces meet all tournament regulations. The set includes extra queens as well!
This silicone chess board is one of the more unusual chess boards we have carried. It is made of smooth silicone, which produces a rubber-like board that is very flexible. The boards measure 19½" inches and have 2¼" inch squares. To clean the board you can run it under water or wipe with a damp cloth. Spilled liquids will not penetrate it. Due to the nature of silicone these boards may have a slight wave/bend that is always present in the board but does not impact play on the board. You can see an example in image above of the side of the board.
This Drawstring Cloth Bag for chess pieces holds and protects a full set of chess pieces up to 3¾" tall and is easy to open and close. This bag stays shut when closed and is ideal for taking your game on the road. Made of durable yet soft woven material this bag is 5"W x 6"D x 9"H and includes a reinforced base.
The green silicone set includes a green board and bag, the blue silicone set includes a blue board and bag, the red set includes a red board and bag, and the black silicone set includes a black board and red bag.
Love this set! Perfectly weighted pieces and indestructible board.
Bought for HS chess team.. really nice, nice size & feel, great quality for price.
I own 2 of these sets, one for home and one to take to chess club and tournaments. I get a lot of compliments on it, especially the board. It doesn't wrinkle like the cheaper ones and I've told several people where I got it. The pieces are tournament quality. One of my rooks got dropped and chipped and they replaced it for me with no questions asked.
Bought 10 of these to replace ones I bought 14 years ago. The silicone is much better than vinyl, no curling. Wholesale chess is a great place and will have my business always
It was everything I wanted. I was worried that the weighted pieces would not feel right but now that I have the set I think unweighted pieces wouldn't feel right. Some have commented that the silicon board does not allow for sliding the pieces and I could see why, but that has not been an issue for me.
I especially like that the set is compact. I can fold up the board tightly and put it and all of the pieces in the included bag and it is very compact. I decided on the black board and red bag.
I am a very picky shopper, and I can confidently say that you cannot go wrong purchasing this chess set.
The silicone board seems to lie flat even after being folded, but I prefer to store it rolled up. All I've ever played chess with in the past was cheaper plastic or poorly carved wooden sets. I like the size, weight and feel of this set very much, and don't have to wear reading glasses to enjoy playing. Would be five stars, but for some minor scratching and smudges. Overall I'm very pleased with the product.
The silicone board is awesome. Lays flat all the time. Folds up really small and is very light. The weighted pieces feel good in the hand. Some have complained about the moulding lines on the pieces - seriously? It's a $24 set an you expect that type of hand crafted perfection? It is an excellent value for the money for a set that you can take with you.
The products I got from wholesale chess company or just what I wanted in good condition shipped quickly and had a nice price. I would recommend them to anyone.
I bought two sets. My intention is to keep one for blitz chess so I won't destroy my tournament set. The other one is a gift for a friend's kids who I will be teaching. I like the weight and, of course, the fact that they are much less likely to break than another kind of plastic set. I've had a chance to inspect the sets and I believe they will live up to my expectations. The only doubt I had before they arrived is that being silicone, I thought they might not hold their shape. But this is a hard silicone that makes a click like other pieces when they strike one another, but they have enough give that I believe they won't break even with hard use.
