Ivan Sokolov is one of the most outstanding talents to emerge in the 1990's, and many of his victims in this book- Anand, Adams, Topalov, and Lautier – hail from the cream of the younger generation. As a key member of the Bosnia- Herzegovina Olympiad team he won a solver medal in Moscow in 1994, and was ranked 12th equal in the world in December 1996. Sokolov is resident in the Netherlands, and tied with Jan Timman in the 1996 Dutch Championship.
